Abrash

Traditionally, wool rugs get their color from natural vegetable dyes. When the artisan runs out of one batch of dyed wool and must make another batch it is often impossible to recreate the exact same color and lasting properties of the previous. Over time, the different batches of dyed wool will fade at different rates, resulting in different tones of the same color. Abrash most often occurs in the field - or base - color of the rug.
